This year
Our Charities for this year will be Breakthrough Breast Cancer, a pioneering charity that is changing and saving lives through research, campaigning and education by removing the fear of breast cancer for good. We will also be supporting Help for Heroes. This charity was founded in 2007 out of a desire to help the wounded Servicemen and women returning from Afghanistan and Iraq. It is strictly non political and non critical; they believe that anyone who volunteers to serve in time of war, knowing that they may risk all, is a hero. These are ordinary people doing extraordinary things and some of them are living with the consequences of their service for life. If you would like more information, please visit their websites at http://breakthrough.org.uk/ and http://www.helpforheroes.org.uk/
Last year
Guide Dogs for the Blind Association was our charity for the year. They have been providing guide dogs to blind and partially sighted people for over 75 years and are a world leader in breeding and training guide dogs. Last year the School Committee, brilliantly led by Mrs Wilmot, raised enough money to buy, train, and name, a Guide Dog puppy!
