Unicorn – winners of the Broomfield Swimming Gala for the 3rd year running and our Ancient Egyptians Assembly

Ancient Egyptians and Celebration Assemblies

We have had two special assemblies this week, Celebration Assembly on Monday, followed by our Year 3 Class Assembly on Thursday. All the pupils performed brilliantly, demonstrating enthusiasm and genuine interest in all they had to show. The children have worked so hard on their Ancient Egyptian studies this term and I was delighted to see every one of them supporting each other and singing, speaking and acting with such confidence during an assembly that was packed full of information and creativity. So many of our Unicorn Virtues were demonstrated in a short twenty minute period; congratulations to all staff and pupils associated with their performance.

Unicorn wins the Broomfield Swimming Gala for the 3rd year running

For a small school, there are certain areas where Unicorn consistently demonstrates strength in depth and swimming is one of those. On Thursday our swim team won the Broomfield Swimming gala for the third year in succession. Well done to every single competitor and to the teachers and parents for their coaching and support. It is so heartening to hear about new swimming talent coming through from the younger years. Our girls and boys cross country teams also performed brilliantly at the Key Hole Ponds cross country relays on Wimbledon Common. This is an event attended by a variety of different schools, many much larger than us, so all the performances were extremely creditable with particular reference to our Year 3 boys, who came third overall.

Christmas Fair

Thank you so much to all who helped create such a joyful atmosphere at the Christmas Fair last Saturday. There were past, present and future Unicorn families, along with friends, all enjoying the variety of activities, shops and refreshments on offer, and, most importantly, having a chance to catch up with each other. It is particularly warming to see recent past pupils return, sharing stories of their new ventures and thinking back to their time at Unicorn. We are looking forward to seeing many of you again over the coming weeks as the Christmas season continues apace with infant plays, carols by candlelight and the junior concert – just some of the highlights ahead
