Centre of the Cell

On Tuesday 26 January, Violet and Ultra Violet made a trip to the Centre of the Cell exhibition at the University of London to learn all about cells in the human body. Linking to their science topics of Keeping Healthy and Micro-organisms, both classes entered an 8-cell pod and gathered around a central nucleus to begin a very interactive workshop.  A powerful audio-visual display, projected around the walls of the pod, introduced the classes to cells – the building blocks of life.  This was followed by the nucleus opening to reveal touch-table games where the children carried out virtual experiments, provided solutions to medical problems and even had their own cells counted!

The children thoroughly enjoyed themselves and asked if they could visit every week!  To see more photographs of the trip please take a look in the science room.  Both classes would like to say a huge thank you to all who helped on the visit.

This exhbition is available during half term, so if you would like to visit you can find details of how by clicking this link: Centre of the Cell
