Music

All classes have music lessons; children in Years 2 and 3 learn the recorder and children in Years 1 – 6 all sing in a choir. The majority of children have individual lessons, with about ten or so different instruments being taught including piano, strings, brass, woodwind, drums and voice. Children may take part in orchestra, string group, tutti fluti, ukulele band and our chamber choir, Unicorn Singers.

Miss Gresson, Head of Music, holds a meeting in the summer term for anyone interested in optional private instrument or singing lessons. Fees are kept in line with ISM rates.

Jitterbugs is a weekly pre-school music and movement class run by Miss Gresson which is open to children aged 1-3. It is offered first to any children who are registered at Unicorn and then opened up to other children not connected with the school but who are from the local area. The classes run on Friday mornings in the school hall and last 30 minutes. Activities include singing, dancing, puppets, parachute games and bubbles.
