Isla (UV) broke the borough record at the Richmond Borough Swimming Gala this week, winning the girls year 6 freestyle for the fourth consecutive year, with an incredible time of 20.66 seconds, securing her a gold medal and a place in the local history books. Unicorn also retained their title as the best Squadron Relay team in the borough, winning first place, thanks to the efforts of Isla, Dulcie, Robbie, Lauren, Billy and Tom.
Kezia (I) secured a silver medal for the girls in the year 4 freestyle final. The Unicorn boys put on a tremendous show at the event with Rory (UV) claiming a bronze medal in the year 6 boys freestyle finals Billy (V) winning the bronze for the boys year 5 freestyle final and Conrad (B) winning the bronze for the boys year 3 freestyle final.
“This is a remarkable achievement for a small school like Unicorn. We had 11 pupils who earned a place in the semi-finals by winning their heats at previous events, seven of which made it through the finals where we won a staggering five medals. I couldn’t be more proud of their achievements”. Commented Ms Still, PE Teacher.
