Castle Head Field Study
Year 6 spend a week in the Lake District at Castle Head Field Centre, near Grange-over-Sands and they take part in a variety of adventurous activities such as orienteering, raft building, obstacle courses and climbing – real bonding experiences where the children learn to work together as a team. They also take part in specific problem solving sessions using various courses and equipment.
It’s an action-packed week with many off-site visits: Hill Top Farm to learn about Beatrix Potter; the Aquarium of the Lakes with an expert guide; walks around Tarn Hows, inside Grizedale Forest and up a nearby fell.
The children fondly remember Cumbria as one of the highlights of their time at the Unicorn.
