Arts Week takes place annually in the spring term. In recent years the children have enjoyed the following themes:
2025 – Madagascar
Another action-packed week as the whole school studied Madagascar. Classes learnt all about the extraordinary range of flora and fauna, the wide variety of habitats and ecosystems, whilst also debating the issues of poverty on the island, the effects of deforestation and how different life is like in an equatorial country. Lessons have included plotting graphs comparing rainfall in different habitats on the island, reading stories from and about Madagascar, creating moving chameleon sculptures and beautiful glass paintings, and making vanilla ice cream.
Learning all about the unique and often bizarre ways that animals have evolved on the island has been a particular delight, from studying leaping ring tailed lemurs to the long-fingered aye-aye, as well as the spiky tenrec and the predatory fossa. All classes attended some brilliant workshops seeing many examples of the wonders of Madagascan plant life, which really brought to life all that the classes had learnt in their lessons at school.
