Can I volunteer to help in my child’s class?
As a parent-founded school, we are fortunate to have a strong sense of community at Unicorn. Parents and carers are very welcome to become involved in school life on a completely voluntary basis, should they wish to do so.
There are a number of ways you might choose to support the school, including:
• Helping with classroom activities such as reading or cooking
• Assisting on school trips and visits
• Supporting or running school clubs
There is absolutely no expectation to volunteer, but for those who are interested, it can be a rewarding way to take part in your child’s school experience.
Safeguarding and DBS Checks
In line with safeguarding requirements and government guidance, all adults who wish to volunteer in school are required to complete a DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service) check.
• The process is simple and completed online here in school
• You will need to provide your passport and/or drivers licence and two recent utility bills or statements (dated within the last three months)
This requirement applies to all volunteers, including parents, nannies, au pairs, and other family members.
